EDITORIAL POLICY

Flashes publishes interviews, short stories, non-fiction, flash fiction and poetry. Work in all genres will be considered; the emphasis is on original voice, innovative style, challenging plots and strong creativity.

Submissions must be attributed with your name or Nom de Plume. Work accepted for publication will be published to the Flashes website and promoted via our various social media channels.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Flashes is seeking previously unpublished work in the English language only. Work self-published to personal blogs and noticeboards will not be excluded. Submissions should be properly edited and submitted in manuscript format. Accepted file types are .doc or .docx . Other formats are not accepted.

Submissions should include a cover letter including an author bio (up to 150 words). Please do not include your author’s bio in the actual manuscript, submit the bio as a separate document. The email header should contain the type of submission (Short Story, non-fiction, Flash or Poetry), the title of the piece and your surname.

Short stories and non-fiction can be up to 2,000 words; Flash fiction up to 1,000 words. Poetry can be of any length. Only submit one short story, one flash fiction piece or up to three poems (in a single, attached document) at a time.

Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please notify us immediately if the work is placed elsewhere.

Flashes requires worldwide first publication rights. After publication, all rights revert to the author. However, please state that the work was first published on Flashes if republished elsewhere.

Flashes cannot offer payment for inclusion at this time.
